FUE Hair Transplant (Follicular Unit Extraction)

In FUE hair transplant, an instrument called a fine punch, which is less than 1 millimetre in diameter, is used to extract the hair follicles. After numbing the donor area with local anaesthesia, the punch is inserted into the skin, all around the hair follicles which goes under till the follicle root. The follicle is then separated from the adjacent fatty tissue under the higher magnification of microscopes. The direction and angle of hair are not visible under the skin. Very often the direction of hairs under the skin is different from the direction on the surface of the scalp. Therefore, it is important to maintain a proper angulation of the punch otherwise; it may severely damage the root of the follicular unit. The small and multiple spots left on the extracted area of the scalp that recovered by their own healing process within some days. Over the time, these small dots shrink and turn imperceptible.

The FUE hair transplant is widely applicable in the case of body hair transplant (BHT), eyebrow transplant, moustache transplant or if there is a very small Norwood grade of baldness. Trivellini machine: What is it?

The three layers of scalp 1.5 mm each consists of different consistencies that are involved for the insertion with punch for harvesting the hair roots. The deeper layers are softer containing adipose tissues and connective tissue that could provide lesser resistance to any punch leading to damage due to cutting of the hair grafts inappropriately.

Trivellini machine offers multiple movements involving cutting, rotation, oscillation and vibrations depending on the consistency of the tissue to facilitate lesser damage to the hair roots. The punch during the harvesting is held close to the tip for achieving a better control over the insertion.
