The cleft lip and cleft palate, known as the orofacial clef, are a group of conditions in which cleft  lip, cleft palate or both (CLP) together affected the upper lip of the patient with opening from one side or both the sides and also from the middle sides in such  way that he opening is extended into the nose. This is an anatomical disorder result in many problems, including the feeding problem, speech problem, hearing impairments, and also the ear infections make the life a difficult one.

The cleft lip and cleft palate are the birth defect due to the improper or an absence of joining the facial tissues during the developmental stage. The responsible factors behind, causing the cleft lip and cleft palate is unknown, but to some extent, it may occur due to the smoking during pregnancy, diabetes, obesity, an older age conceiving, and use of certain medications during pregnancy. The cleft lip and cleft palate stage of the fetus can diagnose during pregnancy with an ultrasound exam.
